These include hearing aids,low vision aids, crutches, magnifiers etc. that help children and adults with deafblindness develop communication and mobility. Assistive devices will help them to perform well in their day to day activities. It will also help them to travel independently.

Nutritional Support

Covers medical and nutritional requirments of a child with deafblindness for three months

Children with deafblindness require good nutritional and medical support to prevent further complications to their health. Children with deafblindness from very poor families are malnourished. Milk and/or dietary supplements are provided to the child. Medicines are also given which are not affordable for the family(eg.medicines for epilepsy).

During this COVID situation we are providing online training to families and educators of deafblind children to ensure that children with deafblindness receive continuous training and education. Your contribution will support training of 1 family for a week.

Helping Hands for People with Deafblindness

Sense India works with children and adults with deafblindness for different domains which includes baby screening, early intervention, education, vocational training and livelihood. For each identified children and adults with deafblindness and multiple disabilities, we have specialised expertise in the domains of deafblind communication, mobility, accessible information, assistive devices and rehabilitation. With its unique technical know-how in the field of deafblindness and multiple disabilities, Sense India has used a multi-pronged approach since 1997. This includes technical assistance to its partner NGOs and direct training of their staff to work with children and adults with deafblindness and multiple disabilities.

Whether donation given by Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) is treated as ‘foreign contribution’?

Contributions made by a citizen of India living in another country (i.e., Non-Resident Indian), from his personal savings, through the normal banking channels, is not treated as foreign contribution. However, while accepting any donations from such NRI, it is advisable to obtain his passport details to ascertain that he/she is an Indian passport holder.

Whether donation given by an individual of Indian origin and having foreign nationality is treated as ‘foreign contribution’?

Yes. Donation from an Indian who has acquired foreign citizenship is treated as foreign contribution. However, this will not apply to 'Non-resident Indians', who still hold Indian citizenship.

There are different types of NRI Accounts.

Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) Savings Account - It is an account of an NRI to manage the income earned in India ·
Non-Resident External (NRE) Savings Account - It is an account of an NRI to transfer foreign earnings to India

Not at all. Its simple and safe. Here's what you have to do to make a donation on the Sense India site:
1. Decide the amount that you wish to donate towards any one of the causes or towards Sense India's work in general

What is a legacy gift? How can I support Sense International India with a legacy gift?

A Legacy Gift is a planned future gift that designates some part of an individual's estate/ property as a donation to an NGO. Are there any tax benefits on donation to Sense India?

All donations to Sense India are 50% exempt from tax under section 80G of Income Tax Act-1961.

Will you send me tax exemption?

Certainly. We post the tax exemption certificate within 3 weeks of receipt of your donation in our bank.

Why do you need my contact details?

We require your postal/ email address, mobile number (and PAN Number) to deliver your receipt and tax exemption certificate. Your mobile number enables us to get in touch with you quickly in case of any problems around reaching your tax exemption certificate to you. Your email address would enable us to send you receipts and updates faster for lesser costs.

Can I donate for specific project?

While we are very grateful for any donations we receive, we prefer that funds are directed towards a current campaign or towards our General Fund. This enables us to spend money where it is needed the most by children and to keep administration costs low.

Can I donate specific items like blankets/clothes?

No. We appreciate your support and the best way you can support Sense India's work is by donating, fundraising and campaigning. Please visit the 'Get Involved' page on our website for further information.

How do I know that my money won’t end up in the wrong hands?

We are accredited by Credibility Alliance, GuideStar India and GiveIndia for adhering to tested system of checks and balances to ensure proper use of funds, including regular internal and external audits. Spending reports are also published regularly for donors and the public. Sense India’s transparency measures also include regular-field visits by staff to monitor spending and progress and progress and payments in installments to allow for assessments of prior spending. We also follow a robust anti-bribery and whistle blowing policy.
