Mental Health Service
The mental health services offered focus on a comprehensive and continuum-based approach to care for individuals with deafblindness across India. At the core is the SAMWED mental well-being assessment, a culturally sensitive screening tool administered by trained special educators to identify emotional, behavioral, social, cognitive, physical, and substance use concerns. Building on these insights, community-based interventions are designed to address identified needs through structured, domain-specific activities that promote personal growth and emotional well-being. Complementing this, a qualified team of psychologists provides individualized counselling support tailored to each service user’s needs. For individuals experiencing severe mental health concerns, referrals are made to psychiatrists to ensure appropriate medical intervention. Additionally, the program supports psychiatric medication management by assisting service users in accessing prescribed medications and ensuring regular follow-ups for timely review and continuity of care. Together, these integrated services ensure holistic, coordinated, and well-rounded mental health care that addresses diverse needs across the spectrum of support.
